Description: 
Our next concert is a festival of light choral music, featuring George Shearing’s endearing settings of Shakespeare texts in his "Songs and Sonnets" for Choir, Jazz Piano and Bass. In a first for the choir, we will also be singing four beautiful choral works in Swedish, based on music written by the legendary songwriter and erstwhile keyboardist with ABBA, Benny Anderssen. Since a fairly brief foray into writing for the West End in the late 80’s, Anderssen turned his attention back to his first love of Swedish folk music, writing modern songs but with a traditional Scandinavian heart. We will also be rounding off the programme with songs from “Chess” and "La la Land” as well as new arrangements by our conductor, Roy Rashbrook, of music by ABBA and the Electric Light Orchestra.
