Welcome to the website of The Chantry Singers.

A Guildford-based chamber choir of around 35-40 members, The Chantry Singers celebrate their 30th anniversary in 2013. Established initially as a choir for staff and parents at Guildford's Royal Grammar School, they are now one of the foremost chamber choirs in the area, giving high quality performances of choral works ranging from Renaissance masterpieces to music by contemporary composers. The choir specialises in presenting highly unusual themed programmes which often combine unfamiliar and slightly challenging music alongside old favourites. Recent highlights have included Bernstein's Chichester Psalms, Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle, Bach's motet Singet Dem Herrn, Allegri's Miserere and Vierne's Missa Solemnis as well as a programme of readings, psalms and spirituals on a theme of slavery.

Rehearsals take place in the Royal Grammar School, Guildford, from 7.45 to 9.45 every Tuesday evening during school term, preparing for between three and four concerts per year.

Although there is no formal audition, the musical director normally likes to hear prospective members sing a few simple exercises. If you enjoy singing and would like to be a member of a choir where every singer's contribution counts, then please
